Global chart royalty graced V Festival 2016, sponsored by Virgin Media, this weekend as Justin Bieber and Rihanna dominated the headline slots across the festival weekend.
This year was V Festival’s 21st birthday, with celebrations taking place at the two sites in Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire. To top it all off, presale tickets for next year’s festival have been announced. From Friday 26 August at 9am, tickets will be available for a limited time matching last year’s presale price, with a £42 discount off the full price weekend ticket.
175,000 festival-goers were treated to the hottest pop lineup of the summer with over 100 artists across six stages. Headline performances from superstars Justin Bieber and Rihanna wowed crowds with unmissable performances and production, whilst Australian superstar songstress, Sia, impressed with her soaring vocals and stage presence.
Rihanna honoured the victims of the Nice terror attack by dedicating her song Diamonds to them at her concert on Sunday night (17Jul16). The Work singer was due to perform in the French city on Friday (15Jul16) but she cancelled the show after at least 84 people were killed there in an attack on Thursday evening (14Jul16) when Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a lorry into a crowd celebrating the country’s national Bastille Day holiday. Rihanna’s Anti world tour resumed in Frankfurt, Germany, on Sunday and she paid tribute to the victims and their families ahead of her song Diamonds, according to social media reports.Video footage posted online also shows her asking the audience in the Commerzbank-Arena to light up their phones to fill the venue with “stars”.
Rihanna had Irish fans worried at a gig in Dublin on Tuesday night (21Jun16) after arriving 30 minutes late and then crying onstage.The Umbrella singer took the stage at the Aviva Stadium for the start of the U.K. and Ireland leg of her Anti tour and appeared visibly upset about something as she performed her opening number, Stay.She then started crying while singing her second track, Love the Way You Lie.
